FAQ

Oil & Gas questions.

NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 governs materials for sour service (H2S-containing) oil and gas applications. Specific hardness limits: typically < 22 HRC for wetted surfaces on pressure-containing parts. Material restrictions (no free-machining grades with lead or sulfur), specific heat treatment requirements, documentation requirements. We provide NACE-qualified materials with documented hardness verification. Full traceability from mill heat through finished part.
Common NACE-qualified materials: 316L stainless (lower strength), duplex 2205/2507 (excellent chloride + sour), Inconel 625/718 (highest strength + sour), Monel K-500 (aggressive chemistry), Hastelloy C-276 (ultimate corrosion). Specific material depends on pressure, temperature, and service chemistry. For well-specific applications, API 6A Class specifications define material requirements.
Hydrostatic pressure test to 1.5× design pressure for 5-15 minutes per API 6A or customer specification. Our pressure test bay: 500 bar / 7250 psi capability. Higher pressure testing routed through partner facilities. Helium leak detection for specialty applications. Witnessed testing with customer or third-party inspection available for API-qualified products.
We do not hold API 6A monogram authorization ourselves. Customer manufacturers holding API 6A use us for Tier-2 component manufacturing. We provide: API 6A-compatible material documentation, dimensional inspection reports, hardness verification, pressure test documentation. Customer integrates our components into their API 6A-qualified assemblies.
Material sourcing for specialty alloys: 3-8 weeks (Inconel 718 in specific forms can be especially long). Machining time: varies with complexity, 3-10 weeks for complex wellhead components. Complete qualified delivery with test documentation: 8-16 weeks typical. Oil & gas programs plan 6+ months ahead for complex qualified hardware.
HIPP systems require highest safety integrity level (SIL 3 typical). Components: valve actuators, pressure transmitters, logic solvers. Manufacturing of HIPP mechanical components requires strict quality control, material traceability, and documented testing. Our capability applies to valve bodies and mechanical components per customer HIPP requirements; electronics and logic handled by qualified system integrator.
