FAQ

Dental 3DP questions.

Standard dental digital workflow: intraoral scanner (or impression scan) → CAD design (exocad, 3Shape) → STL file export → 3D printing. We receive STL files and return printed parts. For dental labs running their own CAD, we provide the production capability. For labs without CAD, we can partner with dental CAD specialists. Turnaround from STL receipt: 24-48 hours typical.
CoCr (cobalt-chromium) is ISO 22674 standard for removable partial denture frameworks and crown/bridge substructures. Hardness 36-45 HRC, good strength, corrosion resistant, economical. Alternative: zirconia for full-ceramic restorations (no metal). CoCr veneered with dental porcelain produces classic PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns. Our CoCr printing produces dense (>99.9%) frameworks with mechanical properties per ISO 22674.
Dental resins must meet ISO 10993 biocompatibility for specific duration of contact. Short-term contact (< 24 hours) — dental trays, impression materials: Class IIa. Limited contact (< 30 days) — orthodontic aligners: Class IIb. Surgical guides used during brief surgical procedures: Class IIa typical. Resins we stock are pre-certified for their respective applications.
Standard aligner production workflow: (1) Intraoral scan or impression scan. (2) Digital treatment planning — virtual tooth movement through stages. (3) 3D print model for each treatment stage. (4) Thermoform clear plastic sheet over each model to create aligner. (5) Trim aligner to proper shape. Dental labs producing aligners in-house often use our 3D printing to produce the arch models. Print capacity: 50-200 models per day depending on design.
Dental surgical guides require high accuracy — implant placement depends on guide accuracy. Our dental surgical guide printing: ±0.1 mm dimensional accuracy, verified through dental-specific quality control. Each guide includes patient identifier, operator verification, pre-shipping inspection. For critical surgical cases, additional fit-verification on physical model before surgery.
CoCr crown framework: $8-20 per unit depending on size. CoCr bridge framework (3-unit): $30-70. Dental model: $3-10 depending on size. Surgical guide: $50-200 depending on complexity. Clear aligner arch model: $3-8 per model. For dental labs with regular volume, we offer volume pricing agreements.
