FAQ

Aluminum enclosure questions.

CNC unibody: premium look, single piece, precise tolerances, excellent EMI/thermal, expensive (often $150–500+ per enclosure at low volume). Best for high-end consumer electronics, premium industrial, test equipment. Sheet metal: multiple pieces bent and welded/fastened, cost-effective ($25–80 typical), excellent for larger sizes, standard for industrial control cabinets. Rule of thumb: under 150×100×50 mm consider CNC unibody, above that sheet metal.
Unsealed enclosure: IP20 (dust-only). With gasketing and sealed fasteners: IP54 (splash-resistant), IP65 (dust-tight, water spray), IP66 (high-pressure water), IP67 (temporary immersion), IP68 (continuous immersion). IP67/68 requires compression-gasket design with controlled seal groove geometry — we'll DFM-review for seal integrity. Rule of thumb: IP65 is easy, IP67 requires design attention, IP68 requires proper engineering and testing.
Yes, all standard aluminum finishes in-house or through vetted partners: Type II anodize (any color including black, space grey, gold, red, blue), Type III hardcoat anodize (for wear-critical), powder coat in RAL/Pantone colors, bead blast + anodize (premium cosmetic), brushed finish, PVD coating for premium luxury. We can Pantone-match to your brand.
Yes — we install PEM press-in inserts, self-clinching nuts, weld nuts, threaded studs, and captive fasteners. Common hardware used: PEM SP, S, SO (threaded); BS (studs); TP4 (self-clinching panel mount). We stock standard sizes (M2.5, M3, M4, M5) and can order specialty sizes. Installation included in enclosure quote.
Yes — standard services. Silk screen for large-format logos, indicators, warning labels. Laser etching for permanent serial numbers, QR codes, brand marks. Pad printing for small logos on curved surfaces. UV-cure inks available for scratch resistance. Typical cost: $5–15 per enclosure for simple marking.
Yes — we assemble complete enclosures with PCB mounting points, cable glands, connectors, display windows, keypads, LEDs (through partner for electronic assembly). Option for kit-form delivery (your team assembles) or complete assembly (we install PCB, connectors, and test). Common for industrial controls where you want a turnkey solution.
