FAQ

Aerospace CNC questions.

We operate an AS9100-compatible workflow but do not hold formal AS9100 certification ourselves. Our aerospace customers typically hold AS9100 and use us for Tier-3 component supply. We provide: AS9102 first article inspection documentation, material certificates traceable to mill heat, heat treatment records per AMS specifications, and documentation that satisfies the customer's AS9100 supplier audit requirements. For parts requiring formal AS9100-certified supplier, coordinate with our aerospace partners.
Yes. CIFProto is ITAR-registered for receipt of ITAR-controlled technical data. US aerospace and defense customers can share ITAR drawings and specifications. Finished parts exported back to the US — customer remains responsible for export control compliance including ITAR re-export documentation. For EAR-controlled technology, similar arrangements apply.
Yes — standard on production aerospace orders. AS9102 First Article Inspection per SAE AS9102 Form 1/2/3. Documented dimensional inspection of all drawing features, material verification, process verification, and customer-specified requirements. FAI delivered with first production parts; subsequent production parts covered by process control verification.
Common AMS certifications provided: AMS 4911/4928 (Ti Gr.5/ELI), AMS 4124/4126 (7075-T6 Al), AMS 5659 (15-5 PH), AMS 5643 (17-4 PH), AMS 5662/5663 (Inconel 718), AMS-QQ-A-225/8 (6061-T6 Al). Mill certificates source from AMS-qualified mills with documented material traceability. For heat treatment compliance (AMS 2770, AMS 2774), work routed through AMS 2750-compliant furnaces via qualified partners.
For NADCAP-controlled special processes (heat treatment AMS 2774, chemical processing AMS 2700, non-destructive testing), we route to NADCAP-accredited partners. We coordinate the workflow: CNC machining in-house, NADCAP processing at certified partner, return for final inspection and shipment. Additional 3–7 days lead time for NADCAP processing. Documentation provided by NADCAP partner with our inspection records.
Flight-critical components typically require formal AS9100-certified suppliers with specific customer qualifications. Our aerospace work is usually Tier-2 or Tier-3 — supporting aerospace suppliers who handle the flight-critical certification. Our role: precision machining with documented quality. Customer role: flight-critical certification and regulatory compliance. For Tier-1 direct aerospace supply, our customer typically holds those qualifications.
